To collect and monitor small-size space debris that is hazardous to manned and
un-manned space missions’ safety and to contribute to a more sustainable space
environment with the world’s very first orbital debris tracking and mapping
microsatellite “IDEA OSG 1.”
Space debris is made of man-made objects such as rocket upper bodies,
non-functioning satellites, metal fragments, etc. The growing number of space
debris is a major threat to satellites orbiting around the earth.
The body of “IDEA OSG 1” is constructed with micro-debris film sensors that
allow small-size debris to penetrate through during collision. These data are then
transmitted back to earth for detail analysis.
